FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (20/11/25) - UK COVID-19 INQUIRY MODULE 2 REPORT - STATEMENT
“When the Inquiry scrutinised how the government made its biggest pandemic decisions, Clinically Vulnerable people - those most at risk - were not involved in the process. Clinically Vulnerable people shoulder a disproportionate burden of serious illness and death, yet we were invisible in decision-making. Our safety from airborne viruses in high-risk environments has never been fully considered, and our different needs have been widely ignored - but when it is safe enough for the most vulnerable, it's safe enough for everyone.
We therefore welcome the recommendation to improve how the impact of decisions on those most at risk is considered in future emergencies. However, unless Clinically Vulnerable people are finally recognised as a distinct group in equalities law, these failures are destined to be repeated in the next crisis.”
