Many people in our community are disabled or live with long-term health conditions, and many use assistive technology. We want everyone to be able to read our information, use our services and take part in our work.
This statement applies to clinicallyvulnerable.org. It is run by Clinically Vulnerable Families CIC.
Using this website
You should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- change colours, fonts and text size using your browser or device settings
- get around the whole site using just a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link
- use the site with a screen reader (such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver) and speech recognition software
- turn off animation: if your device is set to “reduce motion”, our moving effects (including the beating heart on the Donate button) switch off
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, because of the issues listed below.
Things we know are not yet fully accessible
- Videos. Our own video clips do not have captions or transcripts. Videos we show from YouTube use YouTube’s captions, which are automatic and may contain mistakes.
- Graphics with text. Some campaign graphics and posters contain text as part of the image. Each has a short text description, but it may not repeat every word.
- Older stories. Some stories brought over from our old website skip heading levels, which can make them harder to navigate with a screen reader.
- Content from other organisations. Our survey forms (Google Forms), payment fields on the donation form (Stripe), our Facebook group and embedded YouTube videos are provided by other companies, and we cannot fully control how accessible they are.
Our reports are published as tagged PDFs with headings and a set language, so they work with most screen readers. If you have any difficulty with a PDF, we can send you the report in another format.
What to do if you need information in a different format
If you need any information on this website in a different format, such as large print, plain text, an accessible document, easy read or a transcript of a video, please contact us and tell us what you need. We are a small, volunteer-led organisation, but we will reply as soon as we can, usually within 10 working days.
Reporting accessibility problems
We are always looking to improve. If you find a problem that is not listed here, or you think we are not meeting the standard, please contact us. It helps if you tell us the page, what you were trying to do and what technology you were using.
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) in England, Scotland and Wales, or the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
How we tested this website
We tested 20 pages on 1st October 2026, chosen to cover every type of page on the site: the home page, campaign and information pages, reports, news, stories, the team page, and the donation, contact and newsletter forms. We used:
- automated testing with the axe accessibility checker against WCAG 2.2 A and AA
- manual checks of keyboard use, focus visibility, page language, reflow at 320 pixels wide (equivalent to 400% zoom), reduced motion, text descriptions for every image, and the accessibility of our PDF reports
We fixed the problems the testing found, including colour contrast on our Donate buttons and labels, missing headings, and page regions that screen readers could not tell apart. We also checked that every image on the site has a text description, or is marked as decorative.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 1st October 2026. We will review it at least once a year, and whenever we make significant changes to the website. Next review: October 2027.
